How can get my older version of MSN Messenger to work?

I want to get my old MSN Messenger 6.2 to work again, so I located it on the web, downloaded and installed it, but every time i try to sign in, it wont let me, and an error message telling me that I have to download the upgrade to sign in comes up.
I’m sure there’s a way around it somehow, can anyone show me how?

☇ properties
☇ compatibility
✓mark ‘compatibility with windows 2000′
☇ then sign in MSN

i think you have to have the new msn . you dont have an option.
i think you just have to get used to the new one.
i did after a while.
