How do I apply a purchased WordPress theme to my blog?

   with wordpress.com you have little flexibility, though you could sign up with some hosting-company, where you can park your website. In that case you don’t have to bother about servers and things like that, and usually you can easily upload your theme or install it through wordpress itself.
   If you don’t know how to move your blog and don’t want to sign up and maybe do some modifications to theme, try out http://mokodesign.com they do free installations/hosting of your wordpress blog, and can help you if you have other issues as well!

   If you do not wish to change the theme in any way, you do not need to purchase the theme customization.

   The only other reason you may need to purchase it is if you have customizations to your current theme, that will be lost.

   In most cases however, there is no need.

   You can log onto your WordPress Admin Panel (assuming this is on your own website, not wordpress.com) and under Appearance, Click Themes.

   There should be a tab at the top "Install Theme"

   Click on the "Upload" button, and upload the .zip file that themeforest provides you.

   WordPress should be able to do the rest.

   I recommend you log onto your blog admin first to see if you can locate everything first.

   I assume you have a blog in wordpress.com? if yes, you can’t install a purchased/downloaded theme, because that’s for a selfhosted wordpress blog (yes, you need to have your own server).

   In wordpress.com, you can pay extra to have css upgrade, means to edit they layout via css file, not to install themes.
