How do I stop Yahoo Personals Notification from starting every time Yahoo Messenger starts up?

I cannot figure out a way to get rid of this stupid spam that Yahoo seems to have added to their Messenger product… I even searched and found the opt out page yet I still get this notification which says I have 64 messages in my Yahoo Personals inbox. When i click on it the services asks me to subscribe. I just want this thing to go away!

Open the preferences from your main messenger window by clicking "Messenger > Preferences" then "Alerts & Sounds" from the left panel.
On the right look for "I receive a personals alert" and un check those 3 options for dialog box, sound, and the system tray icon. Hit apply then OK.
