How do Remove Yahoo messenger from my computer or at the very least have it to open ONLY when I want it to?

When my computer goes on Yahoo messenger loads and prevent other programs from running while it loads. After it loads it slows my computer up. I am running Windows XP Professional.

Using Control Panel > Add/Remove programs will delete Messenger completely! Granted, it does load slowly compared to some smaller programs, but are you SURE you want it gone forever?
Instead, go to Start > Run and type in "msconfig" (without the quotes). Click the Startup tab, and uncheck Yahoo Instant Messenger from the list (and any others you can open only when you need them). Click either OK or Apply, and the program will only load when you select it, after the next re-boot.
By the way, I run XP Home on a very old and slow machine, and Yahoo Instant Messenger loads faster than many other programmes. Do something else while the machine loads up.
