How to download regular msn messenger on a mac?

I recently got a macbook for christmas!
I see that it comes with messenger mac, but is there anyway I could get just regular msn on my mac.
I tried downloading it but it wouldn’t work
Is there something I need to do?

Notebooks are AWESOME! (sorry! It’s off topic but they’re seriously cool. MACS ROCK THE WORLD!!!!!) ANYWAY….
I’ve tried to dowload other types of msn’s other than the one especially for mac, but they’re very hard to find.
I currently use Messenger for mac 7 – http://www.microsoft.com/Mac/products/messenger/default.mspx
but that’s quite different from one’s for pc’s.
There’s another one I’ve used previously but I’ve found it difficult to use at times. It’s called Mercury Messenger. – http://mercury.im/
