Though I don’t have any of these, this site http://www.freesaver.com/christmas03.htm looks like it has several nice screensavers with countdowns.
I have a nice "Let It Snow" screensaver from http://www.howiesfunware.com/ that plays music and has animated lights that twinkle on and off. It doesn’t have a countdown, though (and you have to pay for it.)
