When using yahoo messenger, why doesn’t anything I send or receive in an instant message get displayed?

I just installed yahoo messenger on my computer, and it works fine on one of my user accounts on windows xp. On the other account, though, it doesn’t. If someone instant messages me, the IM window opens, but their message is not displayed. When I send them a message back, they get it and it is displayed on their computer, but it still doesn’t show that any messages have been sent or received in the part of the IM window that displays the ongoing conversation. What could be causing this?

Do this,,,,
Click on Start Button/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs.
DUMP anything that says Yahoo Messenger (toolbar, address book etc etc etc) they will be listed at the bottom of that window), and go to this website,,,,, http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=... and install the 7.0 (my suggestion, one of which I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH).

PS. Stay away from the 9.0 Beta version it still has bugs being worked out, and like I suggested, the 7.0 is the most stable. And no you will NOT lose any Contacts from a previous version you ran, they are all saved on Yahoos Sever and will transfer to whatever version you install
