Why is it that many of you don’t allow instant message or an email via this site to be sent to you?

I research some of the questions and then I want to email the person and they don’t allow IM (instant message) or an email. But why? I don’t think it will show your personal email address.

Some people are creepy and they leave creepy messages.
Simple. There are thousands and thousands of people on here, and I don’t want to hear from any of them. The last thing I need is IM popping up every 30 seconds or countless emails from strangers showing up in my email because someone doesn’t like my answer or doesn’t have any friends.
Got tired of people e-mailing me saying "you are so stupid, the sky is not blue, its orange!" or some other ignorant crap like that. It was only a way for people to send me hate mail when they did not like my answer or question.
And honestly, 100% of the e-mails was from someone that was wrong, or just ignorant. I never claim to be a genius, but I know some things, and I can find the answer to others. Some people though….

…It’s not that I don’t want to hear from ANY of them…
…I just don’t want to hear from ALL of them.
Specifically I’d like to filter out the emails from people who dislike my opinion, my questions, or my answers…
…and only receive communications from those who think the sun shines out of Oval Bananas called Boris
Because I’ve recieved insulting and threatening messages from immature children who didn’t like my answers. That’s why.
