yahoo messenger opens when i start pc but does not open when i sign in?

i am using xp, and all of a sudden i am not getting yahoo mail or able to sign into messenger. anyone have a similiar problem?

Once you sign into Yahoo, you’re already signed into Messenger on most occasions. Sometimes, we’re asked to sign in again, but generally, there’s no need to.
I don’t understand what this has to do with you getting mail, as there’s no connection what so ever.
EDIT – In regards to your e-mail -
Actually, my answer DOES make sense! Once you log into Yahoo, you’re automatically logged in to everything Yahoo.
But, on occasion, Yahoo DOES asks you to log in to specific pages, like your Profile page, or your Mail page, even though you’ve already logged in to Yahoo. Understand now?
As for your Mail, Messenger has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU GETTING YOUR MAIL, you can go to Yahoo Mail and receive all your emails or send emails and that has nothing to do with Messenger.
You say "Messenger not opening means your Mail doesn’t open, obviously", and that’s absolutely wrong!
I’m putting this up for all readers to see and if I’m wrong, they’re sure to let both of us know it!
Why would you seek help when you can’t accept it baffles me to no end.
